New Look installs monitoring systems to minimise in-store loss

London, 3rd November 2005– New Look, the UK’s third largest womenswear retailer, is aiming to cut losses through shrinkage by implementing RetailKey Loss Prevention (RetailKey LP) software from IntelliQ, a leading provider of comprehensive profit protection solutions to the retail sector, across its estate of 535 stores in the UK.

Stuart Green, New Look’s Head of Internal Audit, said, “The RetailKey LP tool represents an important aspect of our profit protection programme, which seeks to minimise loss across the organisation.”

RetailKey LP is replacing an existing exception reporting system, based on software solutions from two different suppliers, with a more powerful data mining tool that can identify irregular patterns of activity, and present detailed reports with a strong evidential base.

David Snocken, product development director for IntelliQ, said, “This project has a big focus on productivity. New Look currently has nine investigators across its 522 stores. Between them they currently cover about 120 investigations every year. RetailKey LP should enable this to increase to 18 investigations a week – all because the software makes it so much quicker to identify behaviour and the reports then present evidence that identify specific transactions that can be linked to similar activities and CCTV footage.”
